Nigeria-eligible striker Nears Bologna Exit Amid Manchester United Interest

opera.com 4 days ago

Nigerian-eligible striker Joshua Zirkzee is on the verge of leaving Bologna this summer, with strong links to top clubs like Manchester United and AC Milan. The English club currently appears to be in a more favorable position to secure the forward's signature.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen on making Zirkzee, along with Matthijs de Ligt, his first major signings of the summer.

According to Bologna director Giovanni Sartori, there is a 99.9% chance that Zirkzee will leave Italy this summer. Manchester United is already in active discussions with the player's camp, focusing on contract terms.

The Red Devils have been informed about Zirkzee's €40 million release clause, which is valid until mid-August, and they are prepared to expedite their bid for the former Bayern Munich forward. While AC Milan remains in the race and has agreed on contract terms, commission issues are proving to be a stumbling block.

Born to a Dutch father and a Nigerian mother, Zirkzee is eligible to play for the Super Eagles, although he has yet to receive a call-up. The 6-foot-4-inch striker scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 Serie A matches last season.
