In a recent operation, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended a community head in Osun State, Ige Babatunde, for alleged possession of cannabis plants. The arrest was made in the Ila town area of the state, where Babatunde serves as the traditional head of the community.

According to NDLEA officials, a total of 137 kilograms of cannabis plants were found in Babatunde's possession, with an estimated street value of over N10 million. The agency has stated that the arrest is a significant blow to drug trafficking in the region, as Babatunde was allegedly a major supplier of illicit drugs.

Babatunde has been taken into custody and is currently facing charges related to drug trafficking. The NDLEA has vowed to continue its efforts to combat drug-related crime in Osun State and throughout Nigeria.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the NDLEA to disrupt drug trafficking networks and bring those responsible to justice. The agency's work is crucial in addressing the scourge of drug abuse and its associated social and health problems in Nigeria. The community is commended for their support in the arrest, and the NDLEA encourages anyone with information on drug-related activities to come forward.
