According to Vanguard, the Igboezue International Association Nigeria and the Diaspora (IIAND) urged the Ndigbo people to persevere in the face of Nigeria's current problems by reaffirming their belief that God is with them.

At a press conference in Onitsha, Pius Okoye, the national president of IIAND, asked Ndigbo to maintain their renowned work ethic and endure adversity.

IIAND voiced alarm over recent comments made by Works Minister Dave Umahi, which disparaged former Vice President Peter Obi and unnecessarily linked Ndigbo to unrelated issues. The group called it disrespectful to the Igbo country when Igbo leaders pull the Igbo community into private conflicts stoked by political competition. If Umahi had stopped at just attacking Obi and accusing him of incitement, we would not worry–According to IIAND

IIAND demanded an apology from Umahi, claiming that his remarks denigrated the whole Igbo community in addition to unfairly singling out Obi. They demanded that political conversations be held in a courteous and respectful manner, without attempting to weaken or split the Igbo people's unity.

"We question why a man of such calibre, a former Governor of Ebonyi State, should bring Ndigbo into such a topic that does not interest them, if not for wanting to keep his job," he added. "The matter, Obi's critique of the project, neither concern Tinubu nor Ndigbo."
