Shut up if you’ve nothing positive to offer – Gov Alia tells past Benue Govs

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has advised former Governors of the state who have nothing positive to contribute to the state to shut up and allow him deliver on the promises he made to the people.

He said those who governed the state in the past have had their time and should allow peace in the state to enable him work for the people.

Pastor Kumuyi who gave the charge during a Youth Impact Academy on the sideline of his ongoing Global Crusade at Aba, Abia State, rather urged youths to be agents of positive change.

The cleric charged them to be diligent, focused and make godly choices for true greatness.

Speaking on the theme: ‘Living Like Profitable Stars in Our World,’ Pastor Kumuyi challenged youths to take after some bible characters like Samuel, Timothy, Ruth, among others, who positively impacted their world by godly choices they made.

He also urged youths to believe in themselves and imbibe the “I can do principle”, and never to give up easily nor give reasons for failure.

The cleric further challenged youths to prepare themselves for leadership by making right choices and having their eyes on the ball.

Nigerians must unite to fight banditry, terrorism – Defence Chief

Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, on Saturday in Abuja called on Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion, to unite and fight Nigeria’s common enemies.

Speaking at the second edition of Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) sports carnival, Musa listed the common enemies as terrorism, banditry and other social vices.

“Nigeria is challenged; so we need a united Nigeria to confront all the challenges we are facing.

“Nigerians must unite and confront the evil that is coming against us. So many people do not like the blessings we are having as a country.

“We must shame them by working together as a team and together we will continue to move forward,’’ he said.

Benin monarchy suspends five functioneries for ‘unauthorised’ visit to Ooni

FIVE functionaries in the Benin Kingdom have been suspended for allegedly engaging in sacrilegious conduct against Benin Custom.

A statement by the Benin Traditional Council (BTC) said their suspension was because of their visit to the Ooni of Ife, where they falsely claimed to be emissaries of the Oba of Benin and rendered inaccurate and disjointed account of the connection between the Benin Royal Dynasty and the Ooni-ship of Ife.

The statement signed by the Iyase (Prime Minister) of Benin, Chief Sam Ugbe said “The attention of the Benin Traditional Council (BTC)

has been drawn to video clips circulating on social media in which a group of self-serving traditional functionaries from Benin engaged themselves in a sacrilegious show of shame and falsehood against the Benin Custom.
