Twin brothers notorious for engaging in thuggery land in police net

Two young men who were said to be twin brothers and described as notorious thugs have been arrested alongside another member of their gang by men of the Niger State Police Command while weapons as well as substance suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from them, the command announced today, May 2, 2024.

The command, which announced the development on its Facebook wall on Thursday, gave the names of the brothers as Hussaini Musa and Hassan Musa while the name of the third arrested person was given as Bashir Yunusa.

Hussaini and Hassan are popular names given to a set of male twins in many areas in the Northern part of the country while female twins are always named Hassannat and Hussainat.

The arrested twin brothers and other member of the gang, as posted by the state police command on Thursday.

According to the command, the three young men were arrested at their hideout when the Divisional Police Officer of the Maitumbi Division led the patrol team of Operation Flush with vigilante members to Corpers Lodge area of Maitumbi based on information received about their nefarious activities.

While the three of them were arrested, other members of their gang fled on sighting the police patrol team and the vigilante members.

The command wrote: "Information revealed that the suspects were known for thuggery in the area and dangerous weapons with suspected Indian hemp were found in their possession."

The command added that they had given useful information to the police operatives and had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation while a manhunt had been launched for the arrest of the fleeing gang members.
