The former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party, LP candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Gregory Obi has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is not the problem in Nigeria but the judiciary.
This statement was contained in a report that was made by LEADERSHIP.
According to report, the former governor of Anambra state was speaking at a gathering in Enugu state when he made the statement. Peter Obi said the judiciary is the biggest threat to Nigeria as a nation. He said if the judiciary is effective, the businesses of every Nigerian will thrive. The former governor of Anambra state said it has become very difficult for people who don't have connections to get justice in Nigeria. He said any society that the judiciary is not working will suffer.
He was quoted as saying;
"Whenever we talk about democracy, they will say the problem is INEC. But I tell you that it is not INEC, it is the judiciary. The Judiciary is the biggest threat to Nigeria. If our judiciary is effective, our businesses will thrive. Our judiciary has become transactional and depends on how much you pay. It has become difficult for people who don’t know people to get justice in the judiciary and at any point in time, where the judiciary is not working, the society suffers".
