A Member of the Public Account Committee in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Mugu, has offered insights into the Kaduna lawmakers' decision to investigate the former Governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai. The objective behind this move is to ensure that the loans acquired during El-Rufai's tenure were utilized appropriately for the state's development.

Mugu emphasized that the issue isn't about taking loans per se but rather whether these loans were utilized for their intended purposes. He pointed out that due to the substantial debt owed by Kaduna State, the current Governor, Uba Sani, has expressed concerns about the state's inability to meet worker salaries.

Assuring the public, Mugu stated that the investigation into Nasir El-Rufai's administration will shed light on the utilization of the loans and uncover any potential fraudulent activities associated with the funds.

In an interview with Arise News Television today, he remarked, "As a house, it is our legitimate duty and a normal role supported by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria particularly the 1999 constitution as amended for us to investigate. We are elected here and we are supposed to serve the people and when the people are complaining we aren't supposed to be insensitive but sensitive to the thinking of the people whether it is wishful thinking or real we need to investigate so that the thinking and assumptions of the people will be cleared. For a sitting Governor to cry out that he can not even pay salaries, salaries that should be taken for granted it is not a joke".
