Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere, the spokesman for the G-60 opposition lawmakers in Rivers State, has firmly reiterated that the seats of the lawmakers loyal to Wike, who defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), remain vacant. He stressed that no judicial authority, including the Appeal Court, has validated their defection or overturned the December 13, 2023, decision that declared their seats vacant.

Ugochinyere accused the pro-Wike lawmakers of engaging in propaganda and spreading misinformation to deceive the public and further their own agenda. He challenged them to present any court judgment that supports their claim, pointing out that no such judgment exists.

In his statement, Ugochinyere said: "These Pro-Wike lawmakers' seats remain vacant. The vote on the proceedings of December 13, 2023, has not been voided by any court, and no court, including the Appeal Court, has declared that those who left their political party at a time when there was no division did the right thing. Is there any such judgment? So why are they trying to misinform the public with propaganda, to achieve what?"

This firm stance highlights the ongoing political tussle in Rivers State, where defections and party loyalty are contentious issues. Ugochinyere's insistence on the legality of the vacant seats underscores the opposition's commitment to challenging what they view as illegitimate political maneuvers. The controversy surrounding the pro-Wike lawmakers' defection reflects broader tensions within the state's political landscape, where allegations of misinformation and propaganda are frequently used as tools to sway public opinion and achieve political goals.

By calling out the pro-Wike lawmakers, Ugochinyere aims to hold them accountable and ensure that the rule of law is upheld. His challenge to produce court judgments supporting their actions is a direct confrontation, emphasizing the need for transparency and legal validation in political proceedings. This ongoing debate is likely to have significant implications for the political dynamics in Rivers State as both sides continue to vie for legitimacy and public support.
