In a recent interview with Arise TV, Aminu Babba Danagundi, known as the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate, vehemently criticized the sudden and unceremonious removal of Ado Bayero as the Emir of Kano by the governor of Kano State. Danagundi expressed deep dismay over the manner in which Bayero was deposed, noting that Bayero learned of his dismissal through a radio broadcast while he was on an official assignment in Lagos.

Danagundi highlighted that the removal of Bayero was conducted without adhering to proper procedures. While he conceded that the governor possesses the authority to remove an emir, Danagundi stressed that such power must be exercised in accordance with established protocols to ensure fairness and legitimacy. The abrupt nature of Bayero's removal, devoid of any prior notice or formal procedures, represented a significant departure from tradition and protocol.

In his critique, Danagundi also disclosed an attempt by Abba Yusuf to alter his own title, which he staunchly resisted. He explained that the title of Sarkin Dawaki Babba is a hereditary one, passed down from his father, and he refused to accept any other designation. This resistance was part of a broader effort to uphold tradition and respect for hereditary roles within the emirate.

Defending the importance of due process, Danagundi emphasized the necessity of a fair hearing in the removal of an emir. He argued that a position as significant and esteemed as the Emir of Kano should not be revoked without thorough and transparent proceedings. The lack of a formal query or prior notification to Bayero constituted, in Danagundi's view, a serious breach of protocol and fairness.

Danagundi further pointed out the impropriety of Bayero's removal, emphasizing the disrespect shown to an emir who was engaged in national duties at the time. The fact that Bayero was informed of his deposition through a radio announcement was not only unprecedented but also profoundly disrespectful. This method of communication reflected a blatant disregard for the dignity and traditions of the emirate.

In his words, "He said he wants to change my title from Sarkin Dawaki to another title. I refused because this is a title I inherited from my father, and I don't want any other title. I challenged him at the same fair hearing. He can remove me; the governor can remove an emir if he wants to remove him, but he has to follow due process. You just don't remove an Emir, an Emir like Emir of Kano, in a day without any query. He was on a national assignment; he (Ado Bayero) went to Lagos just for him to hear on the radio that he had been removed. It is never done."
