According to THE NATION, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has stressed his gratitude towards those who have supported his journey, highlighting that this appreciation influences his cautious approach to the state's political crisis. Addressing Ikwerre ethnic stakeholders, including the Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation, traditional rulers, women, and youth leaders in Port Harcourt, Fubara rejected accusations of ingratitude.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara argued that if he were ungrateful, it would have been evident over his 16-year career. He used a metaphor to illustrate his point, suggesting that a person's true nature cannot be hidden indefinitely, much like a child's behavior revealing their character over time.

Amidst the political turmoil, Fubara chose not to delve into the specifics of the crisis. Instead, he focused on expressing his appreciation for the Ikwerre people's support and the blessings on the state. He dismissed claims of ethnic politics, pointing out that the Ikwerre's public support demonstrated their commitment to his administration.

The governor emphasized his reliance on divine judgment, stating that he leaves the final assessment of character and actions to God. He framed the meeting as a moment to appreciate the delegation and celebrate the state's achievements rather than to address the ongoing political issues.

Fubara reiterated his gratitude, underscoring that his actions over the years should speak for themselves. He challenged those accusing him of ingratitude to provide specific examples of his purported misconduct. He urged the people to critically evaluate the accusations against him, affirming his belief in divine judgment to ultimately decide the truth.

Hear him: “If I were ungrateful, it would have been evident long ago. For 16 years, if I was a bad person, everybody would have known. I leave that one to God who will judge everybody. Even if they forcefully put a feeding bottle in my mouth, if I get filled up, won’t I pull it out? So, when people stand outside and say what they say, I want you people to ask them to tell you in their own good conscience, what is that bad thing; that wickedness, that ungratefulness that this man (Fubara) has ever shown or done. But, I leave that one to God who will judge everybody.”
