According to a report from the Punch, Chief Edwin Clark, an elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, discussed the actions of Wike and his supporters when they realized their political efforts were unsuccessful. In response, they collaborated with Amawhule and other lawmakers to argue in court that certain members had not actually left the PDP and were still party members.

Clark stated that the judge, however, declared that the court lacked jurisdiction over the matter, effectively rendering any subsequent decisions on the case insignificant. He argued that the decision to extend the tenure of local government chairmen by individuals who were no longer members of the House was invalid, believing that those who do not hold official positions within the House should not have the authority to make such decisions.

Clark expressed these views while reacting to the crisis in Rivers State. He noted that when Wike and his supporters realized their political strategy was failing, they arranged for Amawhule and other lawmakers to go to court and claim that certain members had not left the PDP and remained party members. The judge responded by stating that the court had no jurisdiction over the matter, making any further decisions on the case meaningless. Clark emphasized that the extension of local government chairmen's tenure by people who were no longer House members was invalid, asserting that individuals without official positions should not have the authority to make such decisions.

During an interview with The Punch, he remarked, "The truth is that when Wike and his people knew they were failing, they now made another arrangement for Amawhule and his members of the House (lawmakers) to go to court to say these members did not leave the PDP and that they were still members of the party. The judge told them he had no jurisdiction.

So, whatever decision the judge took thereafter was inanity. So, they are fighting at all costs. At the time these people extended the rights of the local government chairmen, they were no longer members of the House. You cannot put someone who does not exist."
