According to the report from the Vanguard, Deputy Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Olu Martins, recently expressed his disapproval of remarks made by a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, regarding the absence of Governor Godwin Obaseki at campaign events for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

During a national television program, Ize-Iyamu suggested that Obaseki's non-participation in Ighodalo's campaign activities stemmed from concerns about the latter's performance, insinuating that the governor's involvement could negatively impact the PDP candidate.

In response to these claims, Martins issued a statement, pointing out inconsistencies in the statements of his former political colleague and the APC. He accused them of suffering from "collective amnesia" and highlighted their previous allegation that Ighodalo was Obaseki's godson.

Martins emphasized that Ighodalo, as a capable candidate, did not require Obaseki's constant presence to convey his message to the electorate. He praised Governor Obaseki's performance, stating that his administration had significantly impacted the lives of Edo residents and dismissing the allegations of poor governance by the APC.

According to Martins, Governor Obaseki's focus on effective governance has set him apart from his predecessors, transforming Edo State from a den of corruption to a beacon of progressive leadership. He criticized the APC's attempts to distract from the achievements of the current administration, portraying their candidate as incompetent and lacking substance.

He said, "It seems that the APC suffers from collective amnesia. If Gov. Obaseki were Dr. Asue Ighodalo's godfather, won’t he be campaigning for him, especially if Dr. Asue were incapable of campaigning for himself like their own candidate who they have to micromanage like a kindergarten child who must wear pampers so he doesn’t defecate on himself."

He went on to highlight Obaseki's commitment to inclusive governance and his determination to uplift the welfare of the people of Edo State. In conclusion, Martins emphasized the transformative impact of Governor Obaseki's leadership and refuted the accusations leveled by the APC against the PDP candidate.
