Punch news report that, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to reassess his approach to addressing security concerns in the state. The opposition party made this call in a statement released by its publicity secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, while condoling with the government and people of Ukum Local Government Area over recent killings in the area.

The PDP condemned the violent protest that resulted in property destruction and the killing of innocent people. The party also expressed concern over the slow response of security agencies in containing the situation, which led to further destruction of properties, including public and private buildings.

The party suggested that the governor should prioritize a rapid response approach to insecurity, improve logistics and communication capabilities of security agencies, and initiate a disarmament and resettlement program for bandits in the Sankera area. Additionally, the PDP urged the governor to unite Benue people across political, religious, and social divides to tackle insecurity.

The statement emphasized the need for a change in approach to security in the state, given the escalating insecurity and violence in various parts of Benue. The PDP called on the governor to listen to the voices of the people and act with sincerity to address the security challenges facing the state.
