A group of protesting youths have invaded a supermarket associated with businessman James Mbaluka, a close associate of President William Ruto, in Emali. According to the reports, the incident on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at noon came when hundreds of young people who had gathered to start a protest that did not take place in many cities as expected, when they marched to the supermarket located on the side of the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

It is reported that the protesters stole property of unknown value while security officials were overwhelmed by the large number of looters. While this is happening, calmness has started to return in various cities in the country as businessmen continue with their normal activities and protests against the government fade away.

In Nairobi County, businesses that were previously closed every Tuesday and Thursday for the past three weeks were opened as usual yesterday, while passenger vehicles continued their activities peacefully. However, police officers continue to patrol in various areas of the city.

This is after young people through their social networks, such as X (known as Twitter) and TikTok, urged their peers to stop protesting because thieves are using the peaceful protest to rob people's businesses. Officials in charge of intelligence and security issues across the country believe that the looters have been funded and an investigation has already been launched.
