Ahmed Mohammed found himself in police custody after confessing to the theft of a point-of-sale (POS) machine from a shop in Kainji, Borgu Local Government Area. Reports indicate that Mohammed admitted to the crime, revealing that he replaced the stolen POS machine with a faulty one and then withdrew a staggering sum of N293,000 using the password he observed. Shockingly, Mohammed disclosed that he squandered the stolen funds on sports betting activities through a sports betting platform.
In his own words, as reported by the Daily Post, Mohammed stated, "I went to the POS shop and stole the machine, while I replaced it with a faulty one in my possession. I later withdrew N293,000 from the machine, having observed the attendant, and copied the password. I used the money to play SportsBet."
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed Mohammed's arrest and subsequent arraignment in court. The suspect now faces legal consequences for his actions, highlighting the seriousness with which law enforcement is addressing such crimes.
