Human rights advocate and attorney Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu responded to a letter from the Coalition of Civic Groups accusing Olukayode Ariwoola, Chief Justice of Nigeria, of making nepotistic appointments.

On his official Twitter account on Thursday, Odinkalu posted images of the letter that the group had written. The letter is headed "Call For Your Resignation Due To Nepotistic Appointments In The Nigerian Judiciary And The Practices Of Conflicting Judgements Under Your Leadership."

The organization said that Ariwoola named his brother the National Judicial Council's auditor and his son a judge on the Federal High Court. But the coalition ordered the Nigerian Chief Justice to step down.

In response to the letter, Chidi Odinkalu said that the Nigerian Chief Justice had been instructed to step down due to claims of nepotistic appointments inside Nigeria's judiciary.

On his page, he wrote, "A Coalition of Civic Groups has written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, accusing him of nepotistic appointments in the Nigerian judiciary. They are asking him to fall on his sword and go."
