Salihu Lukman, the ex-national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-West region, has voiced concerns regarding the prevalent notion of 'state capture' at the federal level in Nigeria. Lukman noted that this situation has resulted in a scenario where numerous political leaders, including notable figures in the opposition like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, are operating independently instead of coming together to strategize and collaborate.

Salihu's assessment underscores a perceived lack of cohesive coordination among key political figures in Nigeria, both within the ruling party and among opposition blocs. The concept of 'state capture' suggests a state where influential individuals or groups wield control over crucial institutions and decision-making processes, potentially eroding democratic values such as transparency and accountability.

According to The Sun, Salihu said, “Unfortunately, given the advanced stage of ‘state capture’ at federal level, most political leaders, including the leading opposition leaders, like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, are all operating in isolation to one another."
