Rapper Olamide's unexpected EP, ‘Ikigai,’ has broken records on Spotify Nigeria in 2024, amassing an impressive 7.92 million streams in its opening week. This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record held by Shallipopi’s ‘Shakespopi,’ which accumulated 5.7 million streams. Additionally, ‘Ikigai’ set a new record for first-day streams, reaching 1.86 million within 24 hours, surpassing ‘Shakespopi’s’ 1.59 million streams. This EP marks Olamide’s 10th solo project and his 15th overall, reinforcing his significant presence in Nigerian mainstream music.

The EP includes collaborations with YBNL artists Fireboy and Asake, along with former associates Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh, showcasing a blend of talent that enhances its appeal. Olamide’s ability to consistently deliver hit projects is evident, as his 2020 album ‘Carpe Diem’ remains the most-streamed album by a Nigerian rapper on Spotify.
