Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed his frustration and disappointment with the council chairman of Rivers State for failing to perform his duties, leading to a significant breakdown in the council's activities.

In a video posted by Sahara TV on their YouTube channel, Governor Fubara lamented the chairman's lack of leadership and responsibility, which has effectively rendered the council inactive.

Fubara highlighted the crucial role that leadership and accountability play in governance, emphasising that the chairman's inaction has had a detrimental impact on the council's functionality.

The governor did not mince words as he described the council chairman’s behaviour as a dereliction of duty.

He pointed out that the chairman’s failure to engage in necessary administrative tasks and to oversee the council's functions properly has stalled numerous projects and initiatives that are vital to the state's development.

Fubara stated that the inactivity of the council can be directly linked to the chairman’s decision to neglect his responsibilities.

He said that it is not just a matter of poor performance but a complete disregard for the role he has been entrusted with.

He further stressed that the chairman’s lack of initiative has caused significant delays and inefficiencies, impacting various sectors within the state.

Fubara said, "The council, for a while now, has been very inactive; inactive because maybe the chairman has decided not to be responsible as the chairman; I think that is the best word to describe it.

"I'm not talking about other things that have been happening, but I feel, as a chairman of a council, there are responsibilities of a chairman, and so far, I've not felt it, and you can also attest to it that you're not seeing that leadership."
