The Federal Government has revealed the redesigned route for the ambitious 700km Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway project, a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at connecting nine states. The highway's starting point is set at the zero point of Ahmadu Bello Way, located in Victoria Island, Lagos. This unveiling follows a recent meeting led by the Federal Minister of Works, H.E. Senator Dave Umahi, where stakeholders deliberated on various aspects of the project, including its concept, right of way issues, impact on local businesses, compensation plans for affected areas, and the final highway routes.

During an interview on Arise TV, Terseer Ugbor, the Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee responsible for the environment, addressed the environmental implications of the coastal highway project. Ugbor highlighted the project's significance on a broader scale, emphasizing its role in the West African coastal road network, which spans 12 African countries from Senegal to Nigeria, further extending to Cameroon and Mombasa, Kenya. Ugbor stressed the international dimensions of the coastal road network, indicating that its importance transcends the concerns of local businesses along the route.
