Emirship: It’s My Order For You Lawyers Not To Grant Any Press Interview—Judge Warns Ahead Of Ruling

In a recent statement, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the State High Court in Kano has ordered lawyers in the ongoing Emirate tussle to stop giving media interviews, as reported by Daily Trust.

The judge made this order during proceedings on Thursday.

“It’s my order for you (lawyers) not to grant any interview with the press even before and even after my ruling on the argument on the pending appeal on stay of proceedings filed by the first respondent,” she stated.

Shortly after making the order, Justice Aliyu went on break ahead of her ruling on the crisis.

The case involves the Attorney-General of Kano State, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the Kano State House of Assembly.

Their counsel, Ibrahim Isah-Wangida, Esq., filed a motion ex parte dated May 27.

The applicants want the court to restrain Aminu Ado-Bayero and four other dethroned Emirs from parading themselves as Emirs.

The dethroned Emirs include Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, Alhaji Nasiru Ado-Bayero of Bichi, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar II of Karaye, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa of Rano, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya of Gaya.

The respondents in the case also include the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the State Security Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Army.
