2024 UTME: Pure water hawker scores 309, bags scholarship

A pure water hawker Ugwu Augustus, has reportedly scored 309 and secured a full scholarship into the university after scoring 309 in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Alex Onyia, the founder of Educare, an organisation that prepares candidates for UTME, revealed that Augustus left school two years ago.

He added that he was, however, challenged to join the UTME preparatory class and score above 300 to get a full scholarship.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has explained why the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, servers failed to work during the 2023 presidential election.

He said the ‘establishment of criminality’ made the INEC servers not work during the last last general elections.

Obi stated this, while addressing the issues of the 2023 elections, including the IREV servers, in Canada during the weekend.

The Labour Party flagbearer in 2023 said people must intensify engagement with all the stakeholders to make the system work.

Oba Adetona College of Governance to be affiliated to NIPSS – Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that efforts are in top gear to affiliate the Oba Sikiru Adetona College of Governance with the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, for the training of high ranking government officials.

The governor made this known at the 90th birthday and 64th coronation anniversary thanksgiving of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, held at the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour, Ita-Olowajoda-Ijasi, Ijebu-Ode on Sunday.

He said Permanent Secretaries from the state would be the first to enrol to enable them benefit from the college, which is the brain child of the Awujale.

NASS to probe safety issues in aviation sector.

The Joint Committee of the Senate and the House of Representatives on Aviation has announced plans to probe the Safety Investigations Bureau and airlines operating in Nigeria over alleged sharp practices.

This was disclosed on Sunday by Abiodun Akinlade, Chairman House Committee on Aviation Technology, saying the committee would ensure the safety of Nigerians flying on local and international airlines.

He added that safety of citizens was a priority of the 10th National Assembly, hence, a summit has been proposed for all stakeholders and operators in the industry to comply with global set standards.
