In a recent article published by The Sun, Chief Eddy Olafeso, who had previously served as the National Vice Chairman for the South West region of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), uttered scathing criticism of the current administration, which is being led by the All Progressives Congress (APC). He referred to the current administration as nothing less than a "nightmare" for the nation.

During his interview, Olafeso brought attention to the substantial difficulties that the national government of Nigeria has imposed upon the people of the country. In his remarks, he emphasised the critical importance of opposition parties in the country working together to form a cohesive front, with the primary objective of removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from office in the upcoming general election.

Olafeso accepted the validity of such a suggestion when he was questioned about recent statements made by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the year 2023. Abubakar advocated for a merger of opposition parties in order to offer a stronger force against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections. It was brought to his attention that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had, in the years leading up to its electoral victories in 2013, 2014, and 2015, implemented a plan that involved realignment and consolidation.

Within the context of Nigeria's multi-party democracy, Olafeso emphasised the significance of re-discovering and accepting one another as members of the same community. It was emphasised by him that such collaboration is not only acceptable but also essential for the development of democratic principles and the general welfare of the nation as a whole.

In an open and honest analysis, Olafeso made some speculations about the possible electoral impact that a unified opposition front could have caused. He indicated that if the votes of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party, and People's Democratic Party (PDP) were combined, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have been defeated by around six million votes on election day.

In his words: "And to be honest, if we take the votes of the NNPP, Labour Party and PDP, APC will be 6million shy of victory. Today, the story could have been different. Today, we could have kicked out the eight wasted, locust years of Buhari and the one year that we are witnessing under President Tinubu. Honestly, the way out is for us to be united against the APC that is destroying our nation."
