The leader of Mount Kenya, Hon. Kimani Wambugu, a former Nyeri Town member of parliament, was a devoted supporter of Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential contest. He has vowed to expose Uhuru Kenyatta's details of his betrayal of his erstwhile ally.
Wambugu asserted in an exclusive interview with the Standard on January 12 that the outgoing president was working on a plan to undermine Raila's prospects of winning and give power to his opponent, William Ruto.
Wambugu claimed to possess proof of Uhuru's purported media manipulation, electoral process manipulation, and intimidation of some of Raila's allies into voting for Ruto.
Wambugu continued by saying that he intended to assemble a group of former Mount Kenya elected officials who supported Raila in order to reveal Uhuru's schemes and demand accountability.
In addition, claiming that Raila had been duped into winning, he urged Raila to file a lawsuit challenging the election results.
