Jamilu Collins, the Nigerian international defender, has resumed pre-season training at Cardiff City ahead of the 2024-2025 Championship season, according to All Nigeria Soccer. The Bluebirds triggered the option to extend Collins' contract by another year, ensuring he remains at the club for the upcoming campaign.

Collins, who joined Cardiff City in 2022, has been working hard to regain his fitness after missing the last three games of the 2023-2024 season and the Super Eagles' 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Republic of Benin. The 29-year-old defender had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2022, which kept him sidelined for almost the entire 2022-2023 season.

The former HNK Rijeka and SC Paderborn 07 player has made 41 appearances for Cardiff City, scoring one goal and providing four assists. His experience and performance have made him a valuable asset to the team, and his contract extension is a testament to the club's faith in him.

Cardiff City will play five pre-season games against Kidderminster, K.V. Kortrijk, Penybont, Reading, and Bristol Rovers as they prepare for the new season. Collins' return to training is a significant boost for the team, and he will be eager to make an impact in the upcoming campaign.

The Bluebirds will begin the 2024-2025 season with a league game against Sunderland at the Cardiff City Stadium on August 10. With Collins back in training and a strong pre-season schedule, Cardiff City will be looking to make a strong start to the new season.
