An unidentified child has been confirmed dead in the recent building collapse at Cameroun Street, off Ewenla in Mushin area of Lagos State according to a report from Sahara Reporters.

The cause of the collapse was found to be due to the heavy rains that lashed the state on Wednesday morning.

No fewer than seven other people were reportedly rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building.

At the scene, Sahara Reporters observed that residents and onlookers were blaming the collapse on the poor construction materials used for the building.

One of the residents said, "The way they built in Lagos is quite worrisome." Look at this collapsed building. There is no cement for the pillars and too much sand being used.

Residents of the community confirmed to the available news agencies that some people are still trapped inside the building and rescue attempts are underway to get them alive.
