President Tinubu, Change Gear On Subsidy Right Away

I would like to advise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his economic advisers he seems to be lending listening ears to that without massive Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) roll-out, within the next two weeks, the subsidy policy will fail. And the CNG will have to be subsidized for the economy to be rejigged.

The now-mainstream thought about the removal of gas subsidies as championed by Western Economists talks of how much will be saved by countries ($10bn for Nigeria), but conveniently forgets how much the country loses in internal trade as living costs rise sharply.

Austerity measures blow away small businesses and obliterate the middle class, leaving out the big corporate class who can survive removal of energy subsidies.

The problem, though, is that major corporations are always optimized to minimize costs (labour especially) and maximize profits. Their primary goal is not to create more jobs, but to provide the highest possible margins to their shareholders.

No prophet married only one wife in the Bible, says Oshoffa’s son

News Source: Punch Newspapers

Olatosho Oshoffa, the son of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide, Bilewu Oshoffa, has shared his thoughts concerning polygamy in the church, saying the church doesn’t forbid the practice.

The shepherd of CCC International Headquarters, Ketu, Lagos, while defending his late father’s large family declared that no prophets in the Bible had one wife.

“Can I tell you something… (sic)? You see, in that scripture, Paul was only advising. Tell me in the Bible, which prophet of God had only one wife? Do your research and tell me,” Oshoffa told Sunday PUNCH.

The late Oshoffa left 13 wives and 53 children behind raising concern about his lifestyle even as the leader of one of Nigeria’s Christian congregations.

Pregnant woman, four others killed, 120 vehicles burnt in Rivers tanker explosion

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, expressed deep sorrow over a tragic tanker fire on the Eleme section of the East-West Road that caused significant loss of life and property. The incident, occurring between the Indorama Petro-Chemical Company Gate and Aleto Bridge, involved a tanker carrying petrol, which ignited and engulfed over 120 vehicles, resulting in at least five deaths. Governor Fubara visited the scene with key officials and emphasized the devastating impact of the incident, attributing it to impatience on the part of the tanker driver due to the road's condition.

The governor promptly mobilized security agencies to secure the area and coordinate response efforts. The State Police Command confirmed four deaths, including that of a pregnant woman, with numerous injuries. The Federal Road Safety Corps reported 60 burnt vehicles and four bodies taken to a military hospital in Port Harcourt. An eyewitness highlighted concerns over road construction causing congestion, contributing to the tragic event.
