According to a report by The Punch, The Labour Party (LP) has resolved its leadership crisis as factions led by Julius Abure and Lamidi Apapa have agreed to collaborate. This reconciliation follows a long dispute triggered by a court ruling which had divided the party deeply.

Abure, serving as the National Chairman, and Apapa, holding the position of Deputy National Chairman (South), had each asserted leadership of the party, causing a prolonged crisis.

According to a source at the LP national secretariat, Abure's decision to reconcile stemmed from the party's Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, openly revolting and the NLC's push for a new convention. The Apapa camp confirmed this, stating they had no initial issues with Abure and attributing his actions to influence from certain NLC officers.

Abayomi Arabambi revealing this, he disclosed saying, "We are together to stop all those political hawkers from taking over our party. We thought they (NLC) were fighting for a just cause. But it is very obvious they only want to take over our party and we are not going to accept that. I also want you to know that there is nothing like Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign here anymore. It has been dissolved. Everybody has reverted to former governorship and presidential candidate. We don't want disinformation at the Labour Party."
