Chief Hon James Ugwu, Chairman of the Adada State Creation Movement, has spoken out against the proposed bill for the creation of Orlu State in the Southeast.

According to the report by Sunday Sun, Ugwu said that Adada State is the only viable option for the region, citing equity, justice, and fairness.

Ugwu dismissed the Orlu State bill as a joke, stating that it fails to meet the constitutional requirements for state creation.

He said that the process involves signatures from stakeholders, including local government chairmen, councillors, House of Assembly members, senators, and House of Representatives members from the area. He added that the request must then be sent to the National Assembly before motions can be moved.

While Ugwu acknowledged the closeness of the bill's sponsor, Hon. Ugochinyere, to the House of Representatives leadership, he expressed concerns that the move may be driven by political influence rather than a genuine desire for state creation.

He warned that the Adada State Creation Movement will not take the Orlu State bill lightly, given Nigeria's unpredictable political landscape.

Speaking during the interview, Ugwu claimed that someone is already clearing the site where Orlu State Secretariat will be built.

He said, But knowing who the mover of the motion, Hon. Ugochinyere, is and his closeness to the leadership of the House of Representatives, we would also not take it completely as a joke. Something else may be in it.

"They may believe that because somebody like Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has access to the presidency, anything can happen.

"Can you imagine that a bill passed the first reading, and somebody is already clearing a site for the Orlu State Secretariat, playing God! They are joking, but we should not sweep it under the carpet because of how Nigeria is. Anything can happen."
