Fermin Lopez responds after Man Utd submit £25m bid to sign Barcelona star

According to Metro, Fermin Lopez has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, affirming his desire to remain at Barcelona.

The 21-year-old midfielder made his first-team debut for Barcelona just last August, enjoying a standout season with eight goals in La Liga. His performances earned him a spot in Spain's squad for Euro 2024, where he made his second national team appearance as a substitute in their 1-0 victory over Albania.

Reports from Spain indicated that Manchester United had submitted a €30 million (£25m) bid for Lopez earlier this month, but Barcelona rejected the offer and are looking to extend his contract, having already renewed it last August.

Addressing the speculation, Fermin told Relevo, "I don’t read the press, I’m not really interested. The important thing is that I want to be at Barca and I only think about Barca. Nothing else."

When asked about his interactions with Barcelona's new head coach Hansi Flick, Fermin mentioned, "He wished us all luck in the first game, but that’s about it. A couple of messages and that’s it. I guess he’ll watch the Euros and keep an eye on me."

Xavi, speaking before his departure last month, had expressed his desire for Barcelona to retain Fermin, stating, "We were told that his loan [at Linares] had been very good. I had liked him for a couple of years. When we tried him in pre-season, I saw that he was ready to compete. He’s a player for many years."
