President William Ruto made an announcement last week regarding the retirement age for public servants, where he reported that those who had already clocked 60 years should leave office. He said this in an attempt to hit back at the Gen Z who had a list of demands for him. The Gen Z have been calling for changes in how the government is run and also in their attempts to see that the public debt is scaled down.

One of the measures by President was that those who have reached that age should go home. It has been noted that quite a number of state officers are in office owing to extensions by letter they wrote. However sources are now indicating that although the orders given by the President were to take place immediately, the officers are still in office pending what they term as further communication . Quite a number are to be affected including some cabinet secretaries, Principal secretaries and other top leaders.
