Man arrested with 375 live cartridges tells police he was sent to deliver them to someone

A young man who was arrested with 375 live cartridges has told men of the Anambra State Police Command that he was sent to deliver the cartridges to someone, it was gathered on Monday, June 17, 2024.

The state police command, which announced the arrest on its Facebook wall, said the man, whose name was given as Felix Owaya, aged 48 years, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Fegge Division who were on patrol.

It was gathered that the operatives arrested him along Niger Street, Onitsha and when he was searched, the 375 live cartridges were said to have been recovered from him.

The command wrote: "During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was sent by one Mr Charles Ogboma to a man he is yet to mention to collect the ammunition."

The command said the man had given more useful information to the police operatives while investigation about how he came about the ammunition is still ongoing.

He is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
