Some political leaders in Rivers State have thrown their weight behind the Governor of the State, Siminalayi Fubara amidst the crisis between him and his immediate predecessor and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
At an event in Ogu Bolo local government area of the state organised to show solidarity for the Governor, a former Transportation Minister, Abiye Sekibo called on Wike to leave the Governor alone and concentrate on his new role as FCT minister.
“Mr President has compensated you enough by giving you a juicy ministry like you want, the FCT. Stay there and do the work that Mr President gave you. Leave Sim Fubara alone.”
On her part, Christiana Tamuno, the leader of Ward 3 in Ogu Bolo praised Fubara for putting the people of the state first.
She said, “Our Governor is only putting Rivers first above any other thing. We once had a Governor who pride in the letter “P”. Pride, power and property. But today, the soft spoken Governor, the Governor of the people with the red pen has come to say no, let Rivers things remain for Rivers people.”
