Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has now claimed that Tuesday, the 25th day of June 2024 would have been the darkest day in the history of Kenya, if the KDF and security agents had not intervened to quell the protests in Nairobi.

Duale has now alleged that on that day that the protesters invaded the Kenyan parliaments, there was a systematic plan to burn the parliament, the Supreme court of Kenya and maybe the whole government squared.

After the parliament and Supreme court had been set on fire, Duale who was speaking to Citizen TV on Wednesday night added that the team were supposed to go to President Ruto's official residence in Statehouse, Nairobi for reasons that he did not disclose.

The Cabinet Secretary said that the plans that could have sent the country into anarchy, were thwarted by KDF who restored calm in the CBD after being deployed following the announcement by Mr Duale himself.

"On that Tuesday, outside the Gen Zs, there was a systematic plan to burn Parliament, to burn the Supreme Court and maybe the whole of the government square and then go to State House. God has saved us. KDF, our security agents did a good work to make sure they save those institutions." He said

On this day, the angry protesters stormed the parliament as they protested against the Finance Bill, forcing the members of parliament to flee for their lives. The protesters ended up setting part of the parliament on fire.

On this day, police officers opened live bullets on the defiant protesters, leaving at least 10 dead on the spot, with hundreds nursing gunshot wounds in different hospitals across Nairobi.
