On Sunday, July 7, 2024, the Nigeria Police Force announced the arrest of three former policemen. The suspects allegedly took over a truck transporting forty thousand gallons of petrol and kidnapped the driver and motor boy.

According to a statement posted on Sunday by Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police, the sacked officers were two Inspectors and a Sergeant.

The individuals he mentioned were Sergeant James Mamah, Otache Egbe, and Abah Solomon, all of whom were fired from the Force.

Along the Ohodo-Opi Road in the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, they allegedly hijacked a DAF truck that was transporting forty thousand gallons of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), more commonly known as petrol.

Reportedly, they were captured following a painstaking effort that also resulted in the recovery of the kidnapped driver and the motor boy.

According to the Force PRO, an extensive search was conducted, and valuable artefacts such as two AK-47 weapons, 105 rounds of ammunition, and different security uniforms were retrieved.

The stolen PMS is still being sought after, and the individuals who were arrested have admitted to their crimes. The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of Enugu Police Command is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.

After the investigation into the three men's criminal acts concludes, they will likely face charges in court as well.
