According to Punch, In a swift and decisive response, the Nigerian Army thwarted an attack by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Isheke Police Station in Ebonyi State. The militants, armed with dangerous weapons, had invaded the station, setting it ablaze and destroying several vehicles in a brazen act of violence. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, was repelled by troops who were deployed to the scene to restore order and maintain peace in the area.

Troops deployed to the scene engaged the IPOB fighters in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing others to flee. The army confirmed that five militants were killed in the intense exchange, while several weapons were recovered from the attackers.

The seized weapons include a PKT Machine Gun with a link belt containing 94 rounds of ammunition, two AK-47 rifles with three magazines containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one Submachine Gun with a magazine, and a Sienna SUV with registration number Ebonyi CHR-364JC. The army's quick response and superior firepower proved too much for the attackers, who were forced to retreat in disarray.
