Wike Can Be in Power and Not Be in Control. Civil Servants Are Working Against Him — Sam Amadi
In a thought-provoking discussion on governance aired by SYMFONI TV on February 8, 2025, Sam Amadi, a seasoned governance expert, shared crucial insights for political leaders like Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
His message emphasized the importance of effective human resource management and building consensus among stakeholders.
Amadi articulated that successful leadership hinges on selecting the right team and uniting people around a common goal. “The second job of a leader is human resource management: selecting the team and building a common consensus,” he stated.
He underscored that progress within nations often stems from shared visions among their leaders, urging them to agree on development priorities.
Referencing biblical wisdom, Amadi remarked, "The Bible is always smart. It says, 'Two cannot walk unless they agree.'" This principle highlights that while minor disagreements may arise, alignment on key developmental issues is essential for success.
He also warned of the complexities leaders face once in power. “You can be in power and not be in control," he cautioned. He explained how entrenched bureaucracies can create resistance during leadership transitions. “When you come and take over government... we have to take over the work of public service," he noted.
