Police Nab Three for Trading Fake Appointment Letter at N400,000

Three individuals in Adamawa State were arrested by the police for allegedly selling counterfeit appointment letters to job seekers for N400,000 each. The suspects, identified as Muhammed Ahmed Attahir, Abdulrahman Bashir Ahmad, and Bello A Suleiman, were apprehended for producing fake appointment letters under the guise of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA). The arrests followed a complaint from ADSPHCDA's executive chairman, Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir, prompting an investigation that led to the recovery of incriminating items including a laptop, thumbprint machine, and fraudulent appointment letters.

India-bound Drug Trafficker Bags 25 Years Imprisonment

Freeman Charles Ogbonna, a drug trafficker arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport with 80 wraps of cocaine, has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos. Ogbonna, who ingested the drugs to smuggle them to India, was apprehended after vomiting the wraps. The NDLEA praised the judiciary for the swift handling of the case, emphasizing that the conviction sends a strong message to drug traffickers.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State awarded a N200,000 bonus to each of the 1,600 Batch B, Stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state. The gesture, announced during their orientation ceremony in Paikoro, aimed to encourage corps members to stay and contribute to the state. Governor Bago also pledged N5 billion for a new NYSC camp and promised additional amenities at the temporary camp, including more toilets and boreholes. He emphasized opportunities in agriculture, offering incentives like automatic employment for medical corps members and promoting youth engagement in mechanization.

Five police officers from Zone 6 Police Headquarters in Cross River State are under investigation for allegedly abducting and extorting ₦3 million from an individual along the Ikom-Calabar highway. The officers' misconduct prompted the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Jonathan Towuru, to order a thorough investigation. The officers have been detained, and disciplinary actions, including possible prosecution, will follow based on the investigation's findings.
