Asukewe Ikoawaji, a member of the Rivers State Elders Council, recently discussed on Arise TV's The Morning Show the potential implications should President Bola Ahmed Tinubu decide to dismiss Nyesom Wike from his role as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ikoawaji pointed out that as a sitting minister, Wike's tenure is not indefinite, and the President retains the authority to replace him if deemed necessary. Should Wike be relieved of his ministerial duties, Ikoawaji emphasized that Wike would return to Rivers State, his home base.

Ikoawaji highlighted the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment for Wike's potential return to Rivers State.

He noted that during Wike's tenure as governor, individuals who are now causing disturbances in the state were once closely associated with him in key roles. He suggested that criticisms directed at Wike today often stem from these individuals' self-serving interests rather than genuine concerns about Wike's leadership.

Ikoawaji underscored the need for a harmonious community atmosphere to facilitate Wike's reintegration into state affairs if he departs from his ministerial role. He cautioned against actions that could disrupt peace and stability in Rivers State, emphasizing the importance of supporting ongoing development efforts regardless of political changes.

Hear him: ''Wike, as a sitting minister, will not stay in office forever. The president has the right to change him if he no longer needs his service. If the President removes him (Wike) as a minister, he will come back to Rivers State.

And you can only come home when there is peace. When Wike was governor, the people causing this problem were the ones working with him. They can't come up to say Wike is a bad person today. However, they are only fighting for their interests.''
