In an interview with Arise News, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), addressed speculations regarding his relationship with his former Deputy, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State. Kwankwaso emphasized that he does not harbor personal animosities, particularly in Kano politics, and his guiding principles eschew personal vendettas.

Kwankwaso reminisced about their past collaboration, underscoring his role in advancing Ganduje's political career. He appointed Ganduje as his deputy governor from 1999 to 2003 and later as his Special Adviser in the Ministry of Defence. Additionally, Kwankwaso played a crucial role in helping Ganduje secure a position in the Chad Basin Development Authority during the Yar'Adua administration.

The former governor highlighted that his political mission in Kano has been completed and he has no interest in perpetuating political conflicts. Instead, he called for unity and progress, urging that past differences be left behind.

Kwankwaso articulated his stance clearly:

"I'm not the Governor of Kano, I'm just the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and as a matter of principle, I don't have enemies. I don't believe that I have anybody to fight, especially in the politics of Kano. This person you mentioned was my deputy governor from 1999 to 2003 and my Special Adviser in the Ministry of Defence. When Yar'Adua came in 2007, I lobbied and got a job for him in the Chad Basin, and he was there when I got the ticket in 2011.

I invited him to come back and be my deputy again. When I finished, I decided with other leaders in Kano to hand over the mantle of leadership to him free of charge. Once that happens, anybody is free to do whatever they want to do, but I successfully completed my assignment in Kano and I left. Whatever happened in Kano is now history."

Kwankwaso's statements reflect his commitment to moving beyond past political tussles and fostering a spirit of cooperation and forward-thinking in Kano State's political landscape.
