According to reports on DAILY POST, a non-governmental organization, Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), has issued a stern warning to Nigerians against considering the model adopted by Kenyans in their recent anti-tax protests.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of CCC, Retired Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, delivered the warning during a press conference on the center’s Conflict Trends Analysis (CTA) for the second quarter on Monday in Abuja.

Olukolade expressed concern about the intentions of those suggesting the re-enactment of Kenya's recent anti-tax protests in Nigeria, emphasizing that such destructive actions would not resolve the nation's economic challenges.

"The Kenyan experience is not and should not be our democratic model."

He underscored that violence has no redeeming quality and urged against actions leading to violence and destruction.

Olukolade highlighted the various internal security challenges already facing Nigeria and cautioned that calls for violent protests could provide opportunities for criminals to exploit the situation, leading to further mayhem and the destruction of public facilities.

"The aftermath of the 'EndSARS' protests is still fresh in our minds," he noted, "and we call on our youths to shun anything that will engender crisis and destruction in any part of our country."

The CCC Chairman also called on the government to take more proactive measures to de-escalate tensions in the country by addressing the prevailing challenges.

He urged the government to implement effective strategies to alleviate the economic difficulties that many Nigerians face, in order to prevent further unrest.

The warning comes in the wake of widespread protests in Kenya against tax hikes, which led to significant disruptions and confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement.

The CCC fears that a similar approach in Nigeria could exacerbate the already volatile security situation.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic pressures and social challenges, the CCC's message underscores the importance of maintaining peace and seeking constructive solutions to grievances.

The organization emphasizes the need for dialogue and non-violent means of expressing dissent, to ensure stability and progress in the nation.
