Former Rivers State Attorney General Accuses Governor Fubara of Disinterest in Reconciliation

A former Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor, has indicated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not inclined towards reconciliation with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Adangor made this assertion during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today.

According to him, Fubara is not the conciliatory figure people perceive him to be; he is not inclined towards peace-making.

Adangor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, stated that he resigned from Fubara's cabinet in April because he refused to comply with the governor's alleged request to initiate legal actions challenging the validity of the Presidential Peace Pact brokered by President Bola Tinubu regarding the dispute between Fubara and Wike.

The former commissioner recounted that his issues with the governor began on December 18, 2023, following the Presidential Peace Pact in Abuja.

He revealed that the governor redeployed him from the justice ministry to the Ministry of Special Duties without prior consultation, attributing this redeployment to his firm stance on upholding the rule of law.

Adangor described his redeployment as nonsensical, leading to his subsequent resignation.

He refuted Fubara's claims that he sabotaged his administration while serving as attorney general, insisting that his loyalty lies with Wike politically.

Adangor clarified, "I never sought to work under Governor Fubara; I was invited to serve under him. Even after my initial resignation on the 14th of November, I was not eager to return personally, but the President instructed us to resume."
