Reports from Israeli Army Radio have confirmed that approximately 60 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel in a recent escalation of hostilities.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, the barrage of rockets has heightened tensions in the region, prompting swift responses from Israeli defense forces.

Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks, citing revenge for the killing of one of its fighters a day earlier. The targets identified by Hezbollah included the al-Baghdadi, Nimra, and Mount Meron military bases, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israeli forces along the border.

The rocket fire from Lebanon has had immediate and severe consequences in Israel, with reports indicating that one of the waves of attacks ignited a fire in Israel’s Lower Galilee region. Firefighters have been deployed to combat the blaze, which has threatened homes and agricultural areas, exacerbating concerns for civilian safety and property.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have responded swiftly to the rocket attacks, activating air defense systems to intercept incoming projectiles and launching countermeasures against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The IDF’s Iron Dome defense system has been pivotal in intercepting several rockets, mitigating potential damage and casualties in northern Israeli communities.
