'What Brought Us to This Level is That We Don't Have Leaders in Rivers; Let's Not Pretend' —Fubara

In a recent video posted by Channels Television, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara made a candid assessment of the leadership landscape in the state. He lamented the lack of effective leadership, attributing the current state of affairs to this deficiency. Fubara drew a comparison with neighbouring Bayelsa State, where leaders were able to mitigate similar issues through intervention and dialogue.

However, he noted that in Rivers State, such leadership has been lacking, leading to the escalation of tensions and conflicts. Fubara underscored the importance of strong and conscientious leadership in navigating challenges and fostering peace and stability within the state.

According to him, "It's unfortunate; let me also say this: what brought us to this level is that we don't have leaders in Rivers State; let's not pretend. What is happening in Rivers State even happened in Bayelsa, but people could call and say, Don't do this, don't do this, and they said, Let's let it go. It was done here, but nobody listened because the leaders have shown their conscience. Because of what? not even good money."
