Rivers: Senate Appeals To Gov Fubara, Wike To Prioritize Peace In The State

According to Punch, the Nigerian Senate has appealed to Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to put aside their differences and prioritize peace in the interest of the state. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, made the plea during a visit to Governor Fubara, warning that political tensions could undermine the country's democracy.

The lawmakers, who were in Rivers State for an oversight function, seized the opportunity to intervene in the political crisis brewing in the state. Senator Kalu commended Governor Fubara for his restraint and maturity in handling the situation. To find a lasting solution, Kalu plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu and Minister Wike.

Governor Fubara assured that his administration remains committed to providing good governance and maintaining peace in Rivers State, despite a recent failed bomb attempt in Port Harcourt, which he described as a deliberate attempt to create anarchy. He reiterated that his focus is on delivering quality governance, not engaging in personal conflicts.
