Axelrod expressed apprehension that Biden's age-related challenges may overshadow the crucial campaign ahead and tarnish the esteemed legacy of the current administration.
Axelrod's remarks coincided with Biden's recent comprehensive interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, marking his initial public appearance following criticism of his performance in the previous debate against former President Trump.
According to The Sun, Axelrod in an opinion piece for CNN said, “If he does not [step aside], it will be Biden’s age, and not Trump’s moral and ethical void, that will dominate the rest of this most important campaign and sully the president’s historic legacy.”
