Raila Asked To Fold AU Plans, Told How Gen Zs Will Send Ruto Home And Make Him President In 2027

The leader of the Azimio Movement, Raila Odinga, should consider abandoning his bid for the Chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC) and focus on the Presidency in 2027.

The ongoing clashes between the youth, popularly known as Gen Z, and the government are politically advantageous for the opposition leader.

Raila has been in opposition politics for a long time, fighting to liberate this country, but he has often been defeated in contentious ways and subjected to ethnic warfare.

Many of Raila's followers believe he is the only politician who can bring about change in the country due to the injustices he has endured while fighting for liberation.

Three months ago, the former Prime Minister announced his intention to run for the position of AUC Chair, which is currently held by Moussa Faki.

However, according to some assessment, current political events indicate that Raila is now being sought after for the presidency rather than seeking it himself, as he did in the past.

Initially, Gen Z seemed to recognize Mr. Odinga's liberation efforts, which began even before some of them were born, prompting them to ask him to step aside and let them take charge of the issues.

These youth have been very successful because they have no ethnic ties. Previously, when Raila led protests to liberate citizens, he was considered a tribal leader fighting only for his community.

However, after being pushed aside by negative economic policies that have made life difficult, the youth now see that what Raila was fighting for was relevant.

If the youth recognize Raila's efforts, then it is clear that by asking them to support him without tribalism, 'Baba' will be in a strong position to enter State House in 2027.

Secondly, these Gen Z youths have vowed to register as voters and make significant decisions in the 2027 general election.

They are outraged by President William Ruto's performance to the extent that many say they will not vote him back into office in 2027.

If the youth have already decided to turn their backs on President Ruto, which experienced leader can take over the leadership of the country other than Mr. Odinga?

If Gen Z takes the majority of the vote and supports 'Baba,' then it will be difficult for him to lose to President Ruto, even with a few votes as was the case in 2022.

The debate that Gen Z can use their numbers to elect their own is still not seen as beneficial, perhaps they should vote for someone who will be Mr. Odinga's running mate.

All these arguments show that Raila will be the choice of many in 2027 and will be at risk of losing a better position if he decides to go for the chairmanship of the African Union.
