Ambassador Aminu Bashir Wali has spoken about his relationship with former Governor Kwankwaso and the dynamics of Kano State politics. When asked if he had given up Kano politics to Kwankwaso and his supporters, Wali explained that he couldn't continue to fight with Kwankwaso, especially since he had played a role in Kwankwaso's political journey.
In an interview recently shared by Daily Trust, Wali said he was the one who brought Kwankwaso into the PDP and helped him become governor of Kano the first time. He said he didn't see anything remarkable in Kwankwaso when he was introduced to him by Senator Hamisu Musa. He said he supported Kwankwaso and resisted pressure from others, including Rimi, to run for governor himself because he believed that it was time for younger leaders to take the helm.
In his words: "God knows I made him (Kwankwaso) governor, If I had said no, he couldn't have gotten that position".
