Angry protesters took to the streets on Sunday in Kiawara, Nyeri county to protest poor service delivery from both the national government as well as county government in the area. The residents blocked major roads causing heavy traffic.

According to photos that were taken from the scene of protests, angry residents barricaded the Nyeri Nyahururu highway with stone and bonfires. Photos from the scene also shows huge fire and dark smokes covering the skies where bonfires were lit on the major highway connecting Nyahururu and Nyeri county.

The angry protesters took to the streets demanding the county government to install firefighting facilities as well as public hospital to be constructed in the area. Police officers were forced to rush to the scene where they dispersed protesters who had paralysed transport services along the Nyahururu-Nyeri highway.

This comes as other protests were witnessed in different parts of the country in the recent weeks. Protesters took to the streets to reject the controversial finance bill, which was rejected by President William Samoei Ruto. Furthermore, other protesters took to the streets to demand better service delivery to the people.

While addressing the nation, President William Samoei Ruto was forced to dissolve his cabinet due to public pressure. He promised to appoint a new cabinet that will help him deliver his campaign promises to the people of Kenya.

He further added that the new cabinet will reflect the face of the country and no region will be left behind in the new government that he will create. The head of state further asked for calm and patience.
