Chelsea's bid to reach the Women's Champions League final in Emma Hayes' final season as manager ended in a dramatic 2-1 aggregate defeat to Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. Despite leading 1-0 from the first leg, the Blues were undone by two controversial decisions that went in favor of the holders.

Referee Iuliana Demetrescu issued a second yellow card to Kadeisha Buchanan, reducing Chelsea to 10 players, before awarding a penalty for a disputed foul on Aitana Bonmati.

Fridolina Rolfo converted the spot-kick, and Bonmati had earlier cancelled out Chelsea's aggregate lead with a deflected strike.

Despite hitting the woodwork twice, Chelsea couldn't find the goal they needed to overturn the deficit.

Barcelona booked their place in the final for the fifth time in six seasons, leaving Hayes to depart without the one trophy that eluded her during her 12-year tenure. She will take charge of the US women's national team in the summer
